In a disappointing decision resulting from a two-year study, the Boy Scouts of America emphatically reaffirmed its policy of excluding gays rom joining the organization.
Come on now, give me a break. The military has jumped that hurdle, why not the Boy Scouts? The Boy Scouts is a great organization to mold character, and I would think a gay young man who must face much discrimination during their lifetime, needs character building as a young child.
I had a gay boy in scouts with me; acted as normal as anyone else, and we all got along great. I can’t say what caused the scouts to back down on this decision; Al;though the Boy Scout leaders cited parents’ support as the key reason for keeping the policy, I can only guess some corporate sponsors put in their two cents and influenced the decision.
The Girl Scouts by contrast, other major youth groups have adopted inclusive membership policies.
A shame, a real disgrace.
