Enough sometimes is apparently not enough. GOP conservatives apparently are not happy with GOP moderates and want them replaced by blood-thirsty real-to-goodness conservatives.
Frustrated by their inability to achieve some policy goals, conservatives in Republican states are turning against moderate GOP members, trying to drive them out-of-state legislatures to clear the way for reshaping government across a wide swath of mid-America.
Two years after Republicans swsept into power in many state capitals, the challengers say it’s time to adopt more conservative policies. I guess the moderate Republicans haven’t cut enough in taxes, cut social programs, education, busted unions or stomped on the poor enough to fill their pocketbooks.
I can’t believe GOP political groups are helping finance the efforts by supporting primary election challenges targeting dozens of moderate Republicans in the Midwest and South, especially prominent lawmakers who run key state committees.
This action is similar to the Tea Party in Delaware supporting Christine O’Donnell over moderate Mike Castle in the GOP primary, which Castle lost. Thank goodness common sense prevailed by the voters and she didn’t win the general election. A sure Republican win went down the tubes.
Conservatives better watch what they wish for; in primaries sometimes you win the battle but lose the war. Delaware history proves that.
Sometimes I think the Republican Party won’t be satisfied until they learn how to squeeze blood out of turnip!!
