THOUGHT OF THE DAY

Money can’t buy you happiness…But it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery.

  1. Would love to see an article by you stating your position on the US Dept. of Labor ordering the State of Georgia to provide unemployment compensation to teachers, counselors, bus drivers and cafeteria workers doing the summer months when school is out of session.

  2. Not of interest to the people in my readership area; there are a lot of people who work summers or winters and are laid off and collect unemployment. First I heard of this case, but I can see a gray area where it could be possible.

  3. You will soon see teachers, et al, in DE and the other 48 states petitioning for the same thing. Just thought you could get in on the ground floor.

  4. Is it possible for a federal superpac that opposes a candidate in Delaware to use its funds to support a candidate for state office in Delaware? If so, would this support necessarily show up on the financial reports of either the superpac or the candidate’s committee?

Thank you for any help you can provide. I have developed a low-grade headache trying to research the answer to the question! And you’re the expert in this area!

    • Federal contributions don’t show up on the State Election’s web site, only for state and local offices. You would have to go on the Federal web site for that info, and I do no have that information; sorry.

  5. Don’t even get me started on the differance between State Employees, whether they be 10 or 12 month employees, and State Contractors, ie: school bus contractors. We are under the total and complete control of the state and school district. On call 10 hours a day for 175 – 180 days a year. All of our bus equipment, routes, employees, salary and (the worst) fuel cost increases and Decreases are dictated by state employees, making big bucks up state.

We are “independent” haha Contractors. Just the same as truck drivers that deliver school supplies, food and toilet paper to our schools. Since no one can hold another full time job, with benefits and be a bus contractor, we have been asking for years to at least be able to Buy Into the state health insurance plan.
No way!! We are not employees. If we give up our routes and contracts after 20, 30 or 40 years of loyal dedicated service to the students and parents of our district, it’s just soooo long to you. We don’t want or expect any kind of retirement plan or paid vacations, only the option to buy into a plan of good quality affordable health insurance. We don’t need Obama to do it, we need our Govenor to at least think about it!
