KELLAM THUMPS CALHOUN FOR LAUREL COUNCIL SEAT

With less than one-third of the registered voters turning out to vote, Jonathan Kellam won handily over Larry Calhoun for the Ward 3 council seat, winning 62-34. Both were seeking office for the first time in the Laurel Town contest..

Mayor John Shwed was unopposed after his challenger Theodore Ray withdrew Wednesday for ‘personal reasons’.

Uncontested candidates were Robin Fisher, councilwoman Ward 2, and Don Phillips, councilman at-large.
