DEMA BRIDGE CALL SUMMARY – January 26, 2015 @ 0900 AM
The National Weather Service briefed today that a winter storm has arrived across the state. The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a coastal Flood warning…which is in effect from 11 pm this evening to 7 am Tuesday. The coastal flood watch is no longer in effect. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from noon today to 3 pm Tuesday. Precipitation is falling in the New Castle County and Kent County as snow and as rain in Sussex County. The snow in New Castle County and Kent County will be heavy starting around 3 this afternoon and the very heavy between 6 and 7 pm with snow fall rates 1”-2” per hour. Snow fall totals for northern New Castle County are forecasted to be 8”-12”, in southern New Castle County 6”-8”, northern Kent County 6”-8”, southern Kent County 2”-4” and northern Sussex County 2”-4”. Winds along the coast tomorrow could be 40-50 mph; blowing snow could create a problem.. Moderate tidal flooding could be a problem tonight with the high tide around midnight and the high tide on Tuesday morning. Freezing rain is not expected with this storm.
The next DEMA severe weather bridge call will be at 1600 today, TMC staff will handle the call.
