GOVERNMENT HELP? HMMMM

Just thinking; with so many people complaining about government interference with states and with Mr. Romney wanting to send a lot of programs to the states to monitor as they see fit; wonder how those people along our de coast, in NY, NJ. feel now about the help they are receiving from the government that they don’t have to pull from their state budgets?

The U.S. Corp of Engineers are in NY pumping out the tunnels and subways and in the process of redesigning their infrastructure; the same in NJ where the president and his FEMA director are touring with Gov. Christie along with the Corp the massive destruction in that state.

Wonder if people in FL and CA are doing some thinking as well. Just thinking myself.

  1. Exactly..the only reason to send anything to the states is to avoid the question being asked. government is needed..this reminds me offthe you didn’t build that fiasco…we see now that infrastructure is needed…

  2. There is a huge difference between the provision of government assistance to the states in response to devastating disasters and emergencies and supporting the care and feeding of the burgeoning monster of ever growing federal
government which is usurping the state’s abilities to take care of their own (as well as stomping all over our own individual rights) Cases in point – Dodd Frank’s Frankenstein baby –the Consumer Financial Protection Agency– as well as the myriad bureaus, commissions, and agencies needed to administer Obama care.

    Bureaus, commissions and czars-oh my!
It is a cheap political practice to label concern and criticism of the expense, administrative roadblocks and loss of state control as a lack of support for legitimately expedient and effective federally administered programs like disaster support and response. Shame on you Frank. I expect more detailed and substantive discussion from you and less of this kind of cheap political rhetoric. You need to buy my lunch next time.

    • Excellent response to Frank’s cheap shot distortion, Lynda. He and his liberal friends love to use the either/or tactic, i.e. if its not this then it must be this. You rightly pointed out that Romney/Ryan propose has nothing to do with a logical response to national disasters.

    • Hey, Lynda. Really wish I had called and had you in my corner last Wednesday nite with the Laurel School Board! There may have been teeth flying, if you had been there.

  3. Frank- why would you think I would support that? Because I didn’t agree with you? I would hope you know me better than that- of course I don’t support the big bank bailouts. Why would someone- a taxpayer- who is a small banker think its a good idea to bail out big banks who helped precipitate the financial crisis? Our nation’s small banks did not create this crisis or take the huge bailouts. Nor did they lie about LIBOR, price fix bonds and lie to shareholders about huge losses. Yet the weight of Dodd Frank is on our shoulders as well. To be fair, a number of the banks have paid back the money- but some have not. And yet they continue to be protected and their futures insured by being labeled as systemically important financial institutions. If they would reinstitute GlassStegall it might help shrink them and their power, but without that happening, they have a ticket to ride.
Hope that answers your (hopefully facetious) question.
Sorry about your cold….you should take something for those sniffles….

  4. FEMA’s vaunted “lean forward” strategy that called for advanced staging of supplies for emergency distribution failed to live up to its billing in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

In fact, the agency appears to have been completely unprepared to distribute bottled water to Hurricane Sandy victims when the storm hit this Monday. In contrast to its stated policy, FEMA failed to have any meaningful supplies of bottled water — or any other supplies, for that matter — stored in nearby facilities as it had proclaimed it would on its website. This was the case despite several days advance warning of the impending storm.

FEMA only began to solicit bids for vendors to provide bottled water for distribution to Hurricane Sandy victims on Friday, sending out a solicitation request for 2.3 million gallons of bottled water at the FedBizOpps.gov website. Bidding closed at 4:30 pm eastern.

Another Obama agency that lied about being prepared. There is a theme here with this administration=”Lying”

    • BS Jaym, I have seen photos of bottled water being delivered from day one of FEMAS entry. Again you’re PO’d because Obama’s people are doing a better job than “Brownie” did with Katrina. People are being moved back into homes in NY with power faster than with Katrina, and shelters are being set up w/buss service every day. Gasoline is the problem, but Christie and FEMA, and the power companies are working to solve that problem. When the presidentent gets a 90% rating for his handling of this storm, that’s about as high as you can get, because people like you are in the 10% because nothing Obama does is good enough for you.

  5. You saw the photos-remember this is from your party that used Russian Warships in a pic at their convention;

If you go to FEMA web site you will see that they were soliciting bids as the article says.

  6. Obama response to Hurricane Sandy – “disgraceful …. where the hell are the generators?” “Maybe the first day or two the President did a good job. The last three or four days?, It’s disgraceful.” “It’s disgracful what he has done. It’s disgraceful what his FEMA has done.” “Go take a look at New york and New Jersey now, six days later.” “If George Bush had done this, they would be impeaching him now.”

    • Nope didn’t delete it; are you with World Press, if so I have to hit approve, and I haven’t been on this blog to check mail since Monday. It is up. I don’t delete post unless they attack a person on my blog. I don’t understand the system, but those that come through on World Press have to be ok’d, if you are not with them I don’t know how it didn’t post itself; all the others do. Now I should have deleted your recent post because of what you called me, but I wanted everyone to see you’re an AH.
You could have asked politely why it was deleted; apparently the election isn’t going how you want it and you may be in a poor mood?

    • Who said othewise? World Press can only come up when I hit approve. If I’m not on the computer your message won’t come through. As far as your FEMA message, I can match you one for one on positive notes.
